April 9th Newsletter

April 9, 2012

Dear Parents,

I hope your spring break was fun, safe and relaxing. It’s good to be back in school though.

Spelling: Watch for spelling words to come home today. For most of the students, the words are: because, look, good, through, down, now, out, about, school, April. (These are words with special vowel combinations.)
The test will be on Thursday.

Science: We will finish our unit on animals during the next two weeks. If your child wants to do an animal report, have them schedule a time with me. I’ll talk to them about this as well. This has been a fun unit for the students.
We will plant our Brassica Rappia seeds Monday in preparation for our plant unit.

Math: We will work with fractions, and review concepts already learned.
pre, mid, and post tests on shapes will come home this week. The post test is the one stapled on the top. The students did well. It’s fun to compare the three tests to see how much the students learned.

Reading Parents: The students have made a lot of progress in their reading this year. I really appreciate y0ur help in making this happen. Thank you so much! Reading Centers will continue this week as normal so reading parents we sure could use your help if you can come. Thanks!

Please have your child wear a coat or jacket to school each day. When the wind blows, it gets very cold and we do go outside for breaks unless it is way, way cold.

Parents, I so much appreciate all of the support you are to me and the students. You are GREAT!

Sincerely,
Brenda Haight
