April 16th Newsletter

Dear Parents,

I can honestly say that I am so sad that this year is almost over. These students are wonderful! I appreciate them and their efforts. I also appreciate you and all of your support. We certainly will finish the year off strong.


Reading Parents: The week of May 7th will be our last week of reading parents for the year. I sure appreciate your dedication in helping our students read. It has made a big difference.

Math: We will continue working with fractions. This is fun for the students.
We will also continue with regrouping, shapes and other concepts learned this year.

Field Trips: Our field trip St. George will be on this Thursday. We will be leaving right when the bell rings so please help your child be on time. We will be gone all day so all students need to purchase a school lunch for that day. Please have your child dress appropriately for the weather.
On Friday morning, we will be walking to SUU to participate in Bard’s Birthday Bash. We will be leaving right after the bell rings in the morning here as well. Please help your child be on time on this day as well. We will be back in time for lunch on Friday.

Science: We will finish up our animal unit and start on plants. The students did a fabulous job with their animal reports last week. Some more will be doing their report this week. Thank you for helping them with these.
We learned about different habitats and which animals live in which habitat and are each making dioramas for one of the habitats.
We have planted our Brassica Rappia seeds (an experimental mustard plant which goes from seed to seed in 40 days.). They have sprouted and are doing well.

Reading Celebration: Remember to have your child read for 20 minutes at least five nights a week so they will be eligible to attend the Reading Celebration on May 14th.
Also, please remember the Lion’s Club reading for a free kite activity. The activity will be on Saturday April 28th at Discovery Park. The students need to take their completed reading chart – (I’ve sent 2 of them home). For more information see: Cedar Lions.org.
