Dear Parents,
Spelling: Watch for spelling words to come home today. For most of the students the words are: boy, joy, boil, spoil, coin, noise, Easter, and spring.
Math: Regrouping and trading with addition and subtraction are big concepts for the students to learn. The students are doing a great job with them. We will continue with these concepts this week, work with telling time to the 5 minutes, work with shapes and review skills learned so far.
Science: We will continue with our unit on animals. We will learn about reptiles and amphibians this week. As we learn about the different animals, we do hands on activities that reinforce their life cycle and hopefully help the students see how the animals are similar to and different from us.
Science Fair: The school science fair will be THIS THURSDAY March 22nd. Papers with room assignments and numbers will be sent home today. Watch for them. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Progress Reports: Progress Reports will be sent home this week sometime.
Birthdays: We will celebrate Maxwell’s birthday on Friday March 23rd.
Art’s Night: Art’s Night, sponsored by the PTA, is tonight starting at 5:30 with student performances in the gym and cafeteria. McKenna Westwood from our class will be performing a piano solo at 5:30 in the reading room.
Each child in our class will have two pieces and maybe 3 pieces on display in the gym. Stop by and see them if you can. Their artwork is very impressive.
Thank You: A special thanks to Tiffany Marchant for spending the last month teaching the students about perspective, foreground, background, how to draw trees, how to add detail and interest, how to water color, and much more as each student created a beautiful art piece for the Arbor Day Poster Contest. It’ll be hard for anyone to choose just one to represent our class.
Thanks Tiffany!!!
Teacher requests for next year: Mr. Oldroyd will be accepting teacher requests for next school year during the first two weeks of April.
I can’t believe it is that time of year again. Wow, I hate to see these students move on. They’re a fabulous group of students.
Your students are wonderful! Thank you for your help and support!
Sincerely,
Brenda Haight
