Dear Parents,
Spelling: Watch for spelling words to come home today. For most of the students the words are: boy, joy, boil, spoil, coin, noise, Easter, and spring.
Math: Regrouping and trading with addition and subtraction are big concepts for the students to learn. The students are doing a great job with them. We will continue with these concepts this week, work with telling time to the 5 minutes, work with shapes and review skills learned so far.
In conjunction with shapes, would you please send to school on Thursday with your child, items that are in the 3-dimensional shapes of: sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, pyramid, and rectangular prism. We will use them for a graphing activity on that day.
Science: We will continue with our unit on animals. We will learn about birds and reptiles this week. As we learn about the different animals, we do hands on activities that reinforce their life cycle and hopefully help the students see how the animals are similar to and different from us.
Science Fair: The school science fair will be THIS FRIDAY March 25th. Papers with room assignments and numbers will be sent home today. Watch for them. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Progress Reports: Progress Reports will be sent home this week sometime.
Birthdays: We will celebrate Kylie’s pretend birthday on Tuesday March 22nd and Ellie’s real birthday on Friday March 27th.
Field Trip: Just a reminder that we will be walking over to SUU to watch the play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Thursday morning. Please make sure your child has returned his/her permission slip and dressed appropriately for the weather on that day.
Moon Unit: Miss Eddy, our student teacher, will be starting her unit on the moon this week. She has many wonderful things planned over the next two weeks.
Your students are wonderful! Thank you for your help and support!
Sincerely,
Brenda Haight
