February 27th Newsletter

February 27, 2012

Dear Parents,

Greetings!

Spelling:
All students will have the same list of spelling words for the next three weeks as we do homonyms. The students will need to know how to spell the words as well as the different meanings. The words for this week are:
write-right, made–maid,
which–witch, knew-new,
hear-here, and your-you’re.

Science: We are learning about the moon and are having a lot of fun as we discover exciting facts. Homework this Wednesday will be to look at the moon, draw a picture of what you see and write about it. Watch for that to come home on Wednesday. Hopefully there won’t be a lot of clouds in the sky.

Math: We will continue our study of regrouping as well as review concepts learned thus far this year.

Science Fair: The school science fair will be on Thursday March 22nd. Mark this date on your calendar. If you have any questions, please contact me.

PTA Book Fair: The PTA book fair will be held next week in the gym during SEP week. Science Fair boards can be purchased in the gym during the Book Fair as well for $5.00.

Author of the Month: Dr. Seuss is our author for this month since his birthday is in March. We are having fun reading books he wrote and illustrated.

Birthdays: We will celebrate Tasha’s birthday on Friday.

Chicks: You probably heard about the chicks that we were able to watch hatch. We ended up with ten of them. The 4-H Extension Office was gracious enough to help provide materials and eggs. It was a great learning experience and a great lead in for the animal unit we will be starting in a couple of weeks.
