December 9, 2013 Dear Parents, Greetings! Grandparents Program: We will be having a program for our Grandparents on Friday February 14th at 1:30 in the afternoon. Parents and family members are invited to attend also. If your child has grandparents that may be able to attend, will you please let them know of the date and time so they can plan their schedules? Science: We continue our unit on weather. Reading Parents: We will be having centers as usual this week. However, our times for centers next week will be different because of the Sing Around the Tree programs we have each day. So, please don’t come next week. We’ll see you again after the first of the year. I sure appreciate your help. Math: We will finish chapter 3 this week. The test will be on Wednesday or Thursday. The pretest will be on Tuesday. I’ll send it home on Tuesday so you will be able to see if your child needs extra help in any area. Spelling: Watch for spelling words to come home today. The test will be on Thursday Christmas Vacation: School will be dismissed at the end of the day on Friday December 20th and will resume again on Monday Jan. 6th. Candy: We are making a piñata to break during our Christmas party. If you are able to send a bag of wrapped candy for us to use in the piñata, we’d appreciate it. You may send the candy anytime. We will load the piñata on Wednesday December 18th so we will need the candy by Tuesday the 17th. Thanks! Lost Items: Please check the lost and found at the school (by the sand sculpture in the foyer) if you are missing any of your child’s clothing items – coats, jackets, gloves, etc. Language: We will work with compound words, synonyms, similies, and antonyms.
