December 13th Newsletter

December 13, 2010

Dear Parents,

Greetings!

Math: We will continue with place value, double addition and subtraction. Watch for homework to come home on Wednesday.

New Student: We’d like to welcome Kole Cranney to our class. He comes to us from Beaver and is a welcome addition.

Spelling: Watch for spelling words to come home today.

Christmas Vacation: School will be dismissed on Friday,
December 17th at the end of the day and will resume again on Monday January 3rd.

Library: Thanks for seeing that your child returns his/her library books each Monday.

Singing Around the Tree: As a school, we will be singing around the tree each day this week for about a half hour. It is always fun for the students to be able to sing their favorite Christmas songs.

Reading Parents: Reading parents don’t need to come on Monday or Wednesday because of the Sing-Around the tree programs at 10:00 on those days. We’re still doing reading centers but at different times.

Candy: Thanks to those of you who have donated candy for our piñata. If you would still like to send a bag of wrapped candy, we could use some more. Please send it by tomorrow, Tuesday. We are going to decorate the piñata on Wednesday and Thursday and then break it during our party on Friday.

Reading: Please have your child continue with his/her reading over the holiday.
We will work with compound words, antonyms, and story elements.

Science: We will finish our unit on weather this week. Hopefully your child will enjoy doing the experiment in the homework in the bag this week. It’s pretty fun. We will be doing more experiments with weather this week in school as we learn more of the scientific method and wrap up our weather unit.

Music: There will be no music on Tuesday.

Field Trips: On Monday we will be walking to SUU to attend the women’s basketball game. Then, on Thursday we will be walking to SUU again to attend the play the Christmas Carol. Please watch the weather and have your child dress accordingly. PE will be on Tuesday because of the play on Thursday.

Grandparent's Program: Just another remimnder that we will have a program for our grandparents on Monday Feb. 14th at 1:30 in the gym at out school. Please let anyone whom you think might like to come know. Thanks.
